ECHO is fortunate to be a place where community members can come with questions. Earlier this week, we were brought an interesting - but strange - discovery.

This plant was found near Sand Bar State Park in Milton. It looked as though it had been floating for a while and smelled... well, like it had been floating for a while.

Steve Smith and Jenn Dean from animal care and Cynthia Norman from the Lake Champlain Basin Program Resource Room were quickly on the case - checking out the plant and using all their sense to figure out what it was.

Sounds like it may have been a lily pad stalk, Smith is checking with biologists to confirm. We'll keep you posted to any new revelations and, of course, we hope you'll feel welcome to ask our expert staff any animal- and plant-life questions you might have!
